Fashion Friday: The Best of the Vest

Not all guys feel comfortable in suits and it’s always important to dress to your personality. If you are one of those people who feels a bit hemmed up in a formal suit, consider the waist coat. Now, in life there will absolutely be times where you should have to wear a suit. But, for those less dressy affairs, a waistcoat or vest, can be an alternative for some. Depending on the fabric the waistcoat can take you from the frigid cold of winter to the often unpredictable weather changes of spring and anything in between. The waistcoat is perfect to pair with a shirt and tie, or something a little casual like a long or short-sleeved tee and possibly dark jeans, khakis or slacks. The idea is to bring some versatility into your wardrobe without having to break the bank.

So you don’t go out looking like a waiter taking someone’s order in a restaurant, choose a vest that has something distinctive like this waistcoat below. It provides just enough character to make you stand out, which brings some diversity to your outfit and will make you look just a little more stylish.

Alternative stylish vests can be a great accessory to make an outfit stand out. make sure that the look is tailored to give it some added polish.

A vest can also be used as a temporary alternative to your suit jacket on those unbearable summer days where it gets entirely too hot. Some are a little sheepish to venture out beyond their jacket and pants, but if you do it right, you can combine different tones between your pant and vest to create something entirely new and fresh. So take another look at the waistcoat/vest. It’s a great way to boost the look of a blazer or sport coat.

For me the vest is a great way for me to keep some flexibility and movement while I’m in my wheelchair.  Those of you who happen to be wheelchair bound need not feel that you can’t dress up in a way that keeps you from moving without constraints. The vest can be a dressy alternative to a sport coat or blazer when you are on the go and can give you full use of your arms when getting momentum in your chair. just because you’re confined doesn’t mean you can’t look fine.
